3 On The Bund

3 On The Bund was formed in March of 2019 when four students from UL's thriving Irish world Academy were chosen to perform in Beijing and Shanghai as part of the Chinese St. Patrick's day celebrations. They have recently returned from performing in the Trad Fest Festival Club Birmingham November 2019 and are currently working on their first recording and preparing for their next tour in Iowa. Whilst on tour, these four became very close through friendship and musicality and have been playing together since. The 4 went onto perform at the NAFSA Conference in Washington D.C in May of this year, again representing the Irish world Academy. Certainly, each member brings something different to the table to create a sound and vibe like no other. The band is comprised of Clare's own Aisling Lyons, renowned harpist, concertina player and tutor with many All Ireland titles to her name. Aisling is currently a tutor at the Irish World Academy in UL. Simon Pfisterer, an Uileann piper from Germany, who's love of the Irish Uileann piping tradition found himself studying Irish music in Limerick purely groups and projects. Simon is also a well know tutor of his instrument in Germany, giving many tutorial workshops at different festivals around the area. Rebecca Mccarthy Kent from Tramore in County Waterford is one of the leading fiddle players of her age in the country to date. Some of Rebecca's achievements so far include becoming the 2019 Seán Ó Riada Gold Medal Champion, while also having many different All Ireland medals for both Fiddle and Piano. Finally, The Kerryman, Sean Kelliher from Killarney plays Guitar and Banjo in the group. At the age of 21, Sean has performed in 9 different countries so far and says he "hopes to see a lot more" through performing Irish music. Sean also took home gold at the All Ireland These are all highly accomplished and acclaimed soloists in their own right but when they come together….they are a force to be reckoned with!
