Irene hails from Connemara Co. Galway in the West of Ireland. She is a full time International Dance Performer, Tutor and Choreographer. She began her professional career from a young age getting her first big break on the Late Late Show dancing along side her siblings with their Cunningham Family Dance Group. Many Television appearances followed over the years, including Up for the Match, The Miriam O'Callaghan Show and the RTE Childline awards to name but a few. In 2005 Irene was honoured to receive an Invitation by the President of Ireland Mary McAleese to perform on her Official State Visit of Japan and South Korea. She has performed with many leading artists such as The Chieftains, Sharon Shannon, Altan, Téada, Sean Keane and Beoga,and her dance performances have been highly acclaimed globally. Irene has been teaching Seannós for many years having began on the school circuit with primary and secondary schools in Connemara passing on the famous old style Irish dance tradition to the new generation. Her famous dance classes and workshops are now widely sought after here in Ireland and abroad including a two week visit to Zambia and Zimbabwe in 2013. For many years Irene toured the country with The Cunningham Family Dance Show 'Fuaim Chonamara' and in 2011 she began a world tour as lead Seannós dancer with the international hit show 'Rhythm of the Dance' seeing her perform across the globe including Australia, North and South America and Mainland Europe. For the past 8 years she has been building a following and interest for Seannós dance in the South East of Ireland including counties such as Waterford, Wicklow, Wexford and Carlow. Most recently, Irene has performed in The David Flynn Live Show at the Theatre royal Waterford and the Asgard theatre Arklow. Irene is thrilled to be part of the CopperCoast Trad Fest 2020.
